oN a HiGhWaY !!!

i was driving at a comfortable 80 kmph.. when i had screeeeech to a halt on the Meerut Bypass yesterday night..

why... well because i had a cart in front of me which obviously had no reflectors...

and why did i not see it... because the high beams of the vehicles coming from the other side of that two lane, without a divider highway had almost taken away from sight...


here are a few things that i would request you guys to take care of whenever you are on a highway enjoying your drive...

1) do not rush... drive in a speed zone where you know your reflexes would not ditch you...

2) do not get into a road rage.. if someone overtakes you like a maniac.. or someone does not give you enough space to overtake.. do not get angry.. just slow down.. cool down.. and then get ahead....

3) make sure there is nothing kept on the hand-brake lever... we tend to keep water bottles or something there usually.. make sure that the gear lever and the hand-brake lever is free of any obstructions..

4) make sure that all your lights.. head-lights as well as the rear lights are working just fine...

5) use a dipper more then your horn... and do not honk without a reason...

6) Make sure that you have enough reflectors on the back side of your car... even if the rear lights do not function... your vehicle is visible in the night....

7) If you have you stop.. make sure that your car is not on the road...

8) Always wear a seat belt.. and make sure that the rest of the ppl ( even in the rear seat, if possible) wear seat belts....

9) Use the highbeam only when you do not have traffic in front of you, and make sure that you use low beam in case there is traffic coming from the front...

10) IF you are driving on a highway for the first time, try to follow a vehicle at a comfortable distance, so that you know of any problems on the road, like potholes, etc well in time...
