(Deadly) Track Record

A Query under the RTI has revealed that more than 20700 people have died in the last 5 years in Mumbai while traveling on the local trains...

On the Central Railway exactly 17553 lives have been lost between Jan'03 and Dec'07...
Western Railway tracks account for 3153 deaths between Mar'03 and Feb'08...

On an average over 10 people die everyday on the tracks..

Very sad !

Laluji, you have done wonders for Indian Railways in the last few years... this is something that you might want to look at too...

  1. this is so scary.... any reasons why specifically in mumbai cause there is more traffic, more population and more frequent travellers i guess........ but this is so depressing i mean u never know if today when u start for work u ll come back or not...

  3. Lalugi have really turned around railways.. hope he dose something to educate ppl about dangerous sides of train journey so that ppl will take care from getting run over by trains...

  5. 10accidents per day on railway track..that too only in Bomaby alone!

    Thay do not say "Icredible india!"..just like that.

    Even in a deadly train accidents in west(if ever it happens at all),seldome does soem dozen of people get hurt...sigh*.....

    Anyway, who cares about huamn life here...its dirt cheap di...avaialbe dime a dozen.

  6. well... i dont know whether u have seen the Mumbai ki local or not, but if u have then u will believe that we lack infrastructure to support that city...

    i guess Lalu isnt the key... but more of us, the people, to take care of others travelling with us.

    I have traveled multiple times in the locals myself, and I don't think its only infrastructure...


    And I have nothing against my country... I love India as much as you or anyone else does... maybe more !
